Second Friday Giveaway Announcement!

Good news, everyone! It's now time to announce my second Friday giveaway! This cookbook is Veganize This! by Jenn Shagrin.

According to Amazon, "Veganize This! shows herbivores and carnivores alike how to turn the delicious dishes from their previous butter- and beef-filled lives into tasty vegan creations that go well beyond the sprouts-and-groats fare often still associated with veganism. For the gastronomist, Chef Jenn’s creations include Jumbo Lump Jack- Fruit Crab Cakes with Spanish Garlic Mayonnaise and Quattro Formaggio White Truffle Macaroni and Cheese. Craving something a little more down-home and comforting? Check out the recipes for DIY Vegan “Doritos®” and Chicken Fried Tofu Steak. With tips and tricks throughout—from making your own mock meats to killer dairy substitutes—Veganize This! is also accompanied by a healthy side dish of sass; Shagrin’s comedienne-by-day humor makes this a read that’s satisfying for the funny bone as well as the belly."

So there you have it! Want to win it? All you have to do is post a comment at the end of this post for one entry. A Facebook or Twitter shoutout gets you one additional entry per shoutout, and if you have a blog and you link back to my blog and this giveaway you can also receive an additional entry. This giveaway ends May 18th at midnight and everyone in the continental U.S. is allowed to enter. There is also still time to enter last week's giveaway as well, though it ends at midnight tonight.

I will say one thing though, the right bottom corner is a little bent because I think it got smushed when I placed it in the bag with the other hardback books. It is brand-new though, and I promise to make up the bent corner with some vegan cookies and nut butters. :)

So let the entering begin!

Are there any dishes you would like to veganize, but haven't yet?

I have a killer dessert pizza that I used to make, but I haven't made it since becoming vegan. I'd also like to make some vegan brownies and I think I have the perfect way to do it. My goal is to put all the other vegan brownies out there to shame! Bwahaha!! I'll probably make some this week or next and share the results with y'all.

I would love to veganize a good bratwurst as being from WI and grilling season is starting I am starting to crave them! Mac and Cheese would be another one I haven't tried yet. That cookbook looks awesome. Thanks for the chance to win!

My husband and I loved clams and spaghetti before going vegetarian a few years back and I still haven't found a good substitute. Someday I might get around to trying to make a similar vegan dish...maybe with some oyster mushrooms.

I've yet to veganize slowcooker potroast...I used to have it all the time as a kid and haven't mastered it yet. Fingers crossed! =)

I would love to veganize mac and cheese!

For some silly reason, I have never made vegan baklava. I should get on top of that!

I always feel obligated to veganize old family recipes. My grandmother hates the idea of my raising vegan kids, not for the reasons that most people object to vegan babies, but because they won't know their food cultural herritage. So if anyone knows a good vegan lefse recipe, let me know.

Would love to make a good tuna casserole or mac and cheese vegan. Thanks for the chance to win!

Believe it or not, I NEVER ate mac n' cheese as a non-vegan. I've just never really cared for the stuff, but I can see why people would definitely want to veganize such a comfort food. :)

@ Amber - Vegan baklava sounds awesome! I've often flirted with the idea of making my own.

@ Lisette - My family doesn't have much of a cultural culinary heritage other than some German and rural Midwestern influences (gooseberries, black walnuts... lots of pig...), but I think it's awesome that you try to veganize family recipes to keep their food heritage! I think that's important as well.

Vegan baklava -- yum. I made it for my anti-vegan mother and she said it was the best baklava she's ever had.

As for what I would like to veganize, I'm with Lisette. If I could veganize some French Canadian foods I grew up with, like cretons, pork pie, and poutines (made with pork), that would be amazing.

I would love to veganize clams and spaghetti. It was one of my husbands favorite meals and I haven't been able to find a substitute. Maybe some oyster mushrooms instead of clams?

Jess of Midwest Vegan said...

Possibly. Though I've never ate a clam. I hear they have a weird texture. :)

Lol, I mean the clams have a unique texture so that would be different about the dish if you were to veganize it. Clams are still an animal. I don't eat seafood.

Didn't want any confusion in there!
